Institutional purpose

CirMont aims at defining innovative models for the economic, social, and environmental development of mountainous regions, with a special focus on technological research on new products, new production processes and useful services targeted at the development of the mountainous areas with the collaboration of the neighbouring regions and States.

Activities

Reserch

CirMont, created in March 2002, will become the national reference body for all initiatives concerning development of mountains. For this purpose, it will rely on its two laboratories, about to be completed:

Research laboratory for the enhancement of typical agro food products in the framework of a programme for the promotion of local genetic resources (belonging to“old varieties, cultivars, animal breeds” of high nutritional and bromatologic qualities), the related production techniques and the typical products obtained.
Laboratory of Technological Innovation, Computer Science and Telematics for mobile applications targeted at the mountainous areas. This laboratory also presents new and innovative features. It has been planned with an eye to great flexibility which will make it compatible with many experimental and application research activities.

CirMont is the coordinator of a project for the definition of adraft bill to respond to the predicament of land property fragmentation in the mountainous areas of Friuli Venezia Giulia, together with Coldiretti FVG, University of Udine, the cultural centres of the mountainous areas.

Training

In accordance with the universities of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Autonomous Region, with the universities of the neighbouring regions and through its own fellowship programmes, the mission of Cirmont also includes the organisation of Ph. D. Degree, post-doctoral training, as well as continuous, recurrent and permanent training activities.
In this context, the procedure for the launching of training activities on the territorial information systems in the Carnia area is currently being defined
